Cross pens manufacturers focus more on quality than on the design
The name "pen" is derived from the Latin word "penna" which means pen. This is a writing instrument that manually by capillary applies ink to a surface, usually on paper. Pens can be used with inks of different colors but commonly make use of inks in shades ranging from black, blue, red, and sometimes green. Cross pens appeared in 1846, the elegant creation of Richard Cross, throughout his life Richard Cross patented an incredible number of twenty one pens until lose his business to his son Alonzo. Currently, the company is proud to be preserving the oldest tradition in the design and manufacture chirography instruments.
In 1879, the precursor of the ballpoint pen was released by the company with a significant impact commercial and later, in 1930, the fountain pen of the company first. In 1946, the company new logo, the century, was introduced and it has retained its meaning today. Since its inception the company has sold over one hundred million pens becoming a symbol of quality and longevity.
Cross pens are known to be more traditional than trendy, they focus more on quality than on the design, and here the Century II model is the best example possible since it is the only combinerefinement with the style of class. In 1916, Walter R. Boss bought the company and encouraged his son Ellery to share his passion for good pens. Ellery joined his father in 1920 and led the company for more than forty years retiring in 1966.
In those years Cross become a company best known as a line of personal leather accessories such as a pen manufacturer. However, following an upward trajectory definitively in 1971 it was listed on the American Stock Exchange, and later, new partners were attracted to start designing other Popular types of fine products.
Over the past two decades, Cross pens have emerged as more a work of art simple writing tools and the price has often been considered relevant to the tradition they represent. In 1993, the Townsend fountain pen and biro Selectip were designed; only high quality materials were used in the process which include eighteen and ten karat gold, black lacquer medalist and titanium. The second century appeared in 1996, it relies heavily on fourteen or ten carat blue wood, painted black or rosewood.
These characteristics strictly belonged to the Century model for the international market. Another variety has been produced exclusively for the continent American, and the pen has been plated with gold of twenty-three carats, medalist, black lacquer and chrome, the set also included a pen ballpoint pen ball rolling, a 0.5 mm pencil and pen. Later models like the ATX, the Verve and Apogee respected luxury line company followed since its inception.
